In the United States, lung cancer is the most frequently lethal cancer. Among all causes of death, lung cancer ranks third after heart and cerebrovascular disease for females and second after heart disease for males. Still in the United States, Over 150.000 people died cause of lung cancer in year 2002.
Lung cancer is classified into 2 main types
1. Non-small cell lung cancer
2. Small cell lung cancer
About 80% of patients have non-small cell lung cancer.
There are many things of factor risk which progress getting lung cancer. There are family history of lung cancer, inhaling 2nd hand smoke or smoking, environment exposure such as radon gas, asbestos, ect. However, some the lung cancers can arise without any these risk factors.
Now, kind of factors might protect people from lung cancer such as are diet fresh vegetables & fruits, avoid smoking area, try to not smoking, limiting exposure from carsinogens agent, such as radon, etc
About 25% peoples with lung cancer report no symptoms at the time of diagnosis. When the sign and simptoms occour, they may include wight loss, repeated chest infections, wheezing, chest pain, coughing up blood, long lasting cough, breathlessness, etc. Lung cancer diagnosed is made on the basis of cell type, symptoms, and x-ray findings. The cancer stage then depends on the spread to other parts of body. The treatment also depends on the stage of cancer and the cell type when diagnosed.
